The first Big Brother birth in the world took place in Holland at 11.16am this morning, streamed live on the internet.

Housemate Tanja Slagenberg, 27, had a girl, promptly named Joscelyn Savanna who weighed 2.9kgs.

After court wrangling earlier in the series, the new baby will only be shown on screen for up to two hours a day.

The Dutch Social Affairs Ministry had also ruled that the birth could not be broadcast live on TV, hence it was only available online.

Slagenberg, who was seven months pregnant when she started the show, will remain in the house while her mother takes care of the new baby in an adjoining room.

Dutch viewers who missed the birth in the early hours will be able to see what happened in an edited show this evening.

An Endemol spokesperson would not say if a similar stunt could be used in the next UK series, which will air on Channel 4 next year.
