Visual effects developer The Foundry has been awarded a grant for research and development by the DTI. The funding will go towards Project Imogen, which has been valued at£575,000 and will last 18 month. Imogen will look to combine traditional optic flow research with imaging understanding techniques to develop more advanced motion estimation algorithms. The Foundry's head of research, Bill Collis, said the research will address the pitfalls that optic flow algorithms present to retimers such as Kronos. The Foundry would not disclose the size of the grant, but admitted it was 'significant amount'.
