Soho-based audio specialist Grand Central Sound Studio's£5m, two-year transition into a "luxury" post facility has culminated in the acquisition of a range of electronic cinema projectors.

The investment in this e-cinema kit - just one spec down from digital cinema (d-cinema) projectors - will allow its sound editors to sync up the audio with top-quality images which its clients will also be able to view.

Reseller Altered Images has supplied and installed Christie Digital's e-cinema DLP projectors in three of its main studios, including two Roadster S6 three-chip devices in a bid to up-spec its screening facilities.

Grand Central has invested£120,000 in the new equipment and plans to plough an extra£60,000 into kit next year.

According to Grand Central Sound technical director Ivor Taylor, some of next year's investment will be used to expand the facility's digital cinema offerings - possibly a server-orientated HD playback onto its d-cinema Dolby Premier room and a digital cinema projector.

The new kit - which also includes two DS30 DLP projectors and one DS+25 projector - has been installed in Grand Central's Soho premises on Great Marlborough Street.

The post house, which also has premises in Marshall Street, has provided audio facilities for BBC promos including those for Egypt and Doctor Who. Its clients also include commercials producers for radio, TV cinema and the net.
