Gottlieb has been named chief operating officer and will look after operations and help shape Content Kings’ commercial and strategic direction. She will also work closely with the team to develop programming for streamers, broadcasters and digital platforms.

Gottlieb co-founded and ran Brown Bob for 11 years alongside former BBC daytime commissioner Jacqueline Hewer. The label delivered well-known titles such as Inside the Ambulance (U&W), Fraud Squad (BBC1), Moment of Proof (BBC2) and Secrets of the London Underground (U&Yesterday) before it closed down in October.

Hay, Content Kings group chief executive, said: “Nicki’s appointment is a fantastic step forward for us. Her track record and vision align perfectly with our ambitions for growth and innovation. We’re delighted to welcome her on board.”

Gottlieb added: “There’s a real buzz here [at Content Kings] – everyone’s full of ideas and passion for what we do. With our worldwide reach, the possibilities are endless.”

In addition to hiring Gottlieb, Content Kings has merged Brown Bob’s library of programmes with its own, which it said enables it to deliver more high-quality storytelling to partners and audiences in the UK and internationally.

The indie has also secured international distribution deals for its new format Lip Reading the Royals, created by chief exec Jonathan Levi. The brand is set to expand with upcoming editions featuring stars, sports personalities and politicians.

Levi said: “It’s been a real joy developing Lip Reading The Royals and seeing it connect with audiences around the world. The format’s playful approach and universal appeal have opened the door for us to explore even more creative possibilities, and I’m excited to see how the brand continues to grow with each new edition.”
