An investigation into the cause of the fire at NEP Visions’ Bracknell building has proved inconclusive.

The outside broadcast company’s warehouse was last month destroyed by a fire which caused tens of millions of pounds worth of damage to the firm’s stock of cameras, lenses, slow-motion replay servers and six OB vehicles.

Royal Berkshire Fire and Rescue Service (RBFRS) said the cause of the blaze could not be determined due to the extent of the damage to the interior and contents of the building.

Group manager for protection at RBFRS Chris Bunyan said that NEP’s “effective” fire safety systems led to the safe evacuation of staff from the building.

But he criticised the lack of sprinklers in the warehouse.

“Had sprinklers been fitted in these buildings, the extent of the fire and the subsequent damage would have been greatly reduced,” he said.
