South Shore UK iteration of John de Mol format lands second series
Globetrotting gameshow format The Floor has secured a second UK series with ITV, Broadcast understands.
Produced by South Shore, the local iteration of the Talpa Studios hit, masterminded by John de Mol landed over 2.5m viewers after 28 days for its January opener, building on 1.9m overnight audience.
The ten-episode series launched in early January and is coming to the end of its run, but is now understood to be crewing up for a second run.
The format sees quiz fanatics face off in duels on a giant LED floor that is divided into squares, trying to take home the £50,000 prize pot. It has sold in nearly 30 territories including Fox in the US, where it has landed five series thus far.
The UK adaptation is produced from The Floor’s hub in The Netherlands. It will continue to be hosted by presenter and comedian Rob Brydon, who also hosts Would I Lie To You? and Destination X.
The debut UK series was executive produced by South Shore’s Andrew MacKenzie and Melanie Leach and Michelle Woods, with Adeel Amini acting as series editor and Tara Ali as line producer.
It was commissioned by ITV’s director of entertainment Katie Rawcliffe and commissioning editor Joe Mace.
The format is created and distributed by Talpa Studios.
