New multichannel broadcaster Musicians Channel is aiming to be a fully tape-free environment within its first three months. Broadcasting director Kenton Oxley said that following start-up costs of around£500,000, a further£150,000 has been earmarked for the purchase of tapeless XDCam cameras. The aim is to be running a 24-hour service in six months. M-Channel, which was launched in May, is dedicated to encouraging and educating budding musicians.
