Hat Trick Productions’ US iteration of comedy format lands third series
Hat Trick Productions’ comedy entertainment format Have I Got News For You will continue its US journey, with the format landing a third series order from CNN.
The long-running UK comedy series’ American adaptation is set to return on Saturday 6 September, and will once again be hosted by Roy Wood Jr along with team captains Amber Ruffin and Michael Ian Black.
Executive vice-president of talent at CNN Originals and creative development for CNN Worldwide Amy Entelis said the series “continues to serve as a humorous reprieve for audiences on Saturday nights without ever losing its bite”.
She added: “The continued success of our Saturday primetime lineup shows that topical entertainment programming is resonating with CNN viewers.”
The latest series of Have I Got News For You will see the brand expanded with a multi-platform approach, including a companion podcast that will launch this summer.
Hat Trick chief and executive producer of the series Jimmy Mulville said the team are “pleased and proud that CNN have asked us to come back and find what’s funny in the news on Saturdays this fall.”
The US series of Have I Got News For You is executive produced by Jim Biederman, Jimmy Mulville and Richard Wilson for Hat Trick Productions.
