The Moving Picture Company will launch a visual effects facility in Santa Monica, Los Angeles, later this year.

It will be headed by Mark Tobin, who was managing director and executive producer at A52 and a producer at Method.

The facility will focus on the US commercials market and will provide a front-end presence to its studio features effects business based in Los Angeles.

Ahmad Ouri, president of the Technicolor Content Services business which owns MPC, said: “MPC has clearly established a great reputation in all of the industries it serves - features, commercial and broadcast.

“We believe the time is opportune for MPC to expand its footprint to the US market, with an initial offering to the US commercial advertising community.

"We applaud MPC's choice of Mark Tobin to manage and direct the new facility. He's a proven talent with a great reputation.”
