US-headquartered OB and facilities provider NEP has acquired Bow Tie Television.

The addition of Kent-based Bow Tie, which specialises in outside broadcasts, media archive, web-streaming, managed contracts and video on demand would complement existing NEP divisions Supershooters, Sweetwater, NEP Visions and Roll to Record, NEP said.

Bow Tie, which was formed in 1990, was wholly owned by John Knopp and Duncan Smith.

Smith has been appointed managing director while Knopp will work as a consultant to the business for the next 12 months.

“This acquisition was a natural expansion of our UK business strands,” said NEP UK managing director Steve Jenkins.

“It creates an exciting blend of specialist broadcast media services with the scale, resourcing and management of NEP. Bow Tie has an excellent pedigree in a unique sector of our market.”

NEP said the deal would provide the company with the opporunity to widen the range of services it offers in the UK with the addition of contract management and digital media for government agencies.
