James Miller, who was fatally shot by Israeli soldiers in 2003 while making Death in Gaza , was awarded the features prize at the National Film Theatre in London on Wednesday (10 November).

The Frostbite Films production, which aired on Channel 4, ended with footage of Bafta-winner Miller being shot despite wearing a helmet with 'TV' on it and carrying a white flag.

Meanwhile, the Sony international impact award was picked up by Philip Cox for Inside Darfur: The First Images of the Crisis. The hard news category winner was Martin Adler for On Patrol with Charlie Company and the freelancers' choice award went to Ron McCullagh, managing director of Insight News Television.
