The Picture Production Company has updated its post facilities with the addition of new SANs, software and systems upgrades from Root6.

A 16 TB Apple XSan, a 16 TB Avid Unity and three extra FCP seats have been installed alongside two Avid systems that have been upgraded to Nitris DX.

Root6 provided all the equipment, installation and support. All kit was in place by the end of October.

Additional fibre channel cabling was installed by Root6's systems integration arm in the Master Control Room to accommodate the increased capacity.

PPC head of engineering and communications Colin Brookes said: “As systems integration and support came from the same source we were able to achieve a better deal and the project proceeded more efficiently.

"Root6 helped combine our Avid offering with a truly integrated FCP system that has increased our capacity and turnover capabilities and future proofs us in an increasingly competitive market.”
