Roobarb & Custard, the 1970s children's cartoon series recently relaunched on Five's Milkshake strand,, is set to leap into the world of new media with its own mobile phone content deal.

Celador International, distributors of Roobarb & Custard and hit quiz show Who Wants to be a Millionaire?, has appointed Editorial & Picture Services (Edpic) to create and distribute mobile video content and to produce the famous signature tune as a ringtone. The content will be available to all networks.

The rights include the original 30 x 5-minute episodes, produced by A & B TV, as well as the new 39 x 7-minute episodes which is animated by Monster Animation.

Edpic previously worked on the mobile content for Aardman Animations Wallace and Gromit film The Curse of the Were-Rabbit.

The original Roobarb & Custard was created and drawn by Grange Calverly in 1973 and based on his own pet dog.
