RRsat Europe is ramping up plans to push into production and distribution of sport and live events.

RRsat Global Communications Network acquired JCA in September last year, and now wants to grow the range of services offered by the London-based business beyond content management, delivery and archive services.

RRsat Europe managing director Simon Kay (pictured) said last month’s appointment of Luca Marinoni as head of sport and live events services in Europe, with a specific remit to spearhead expansion into both sectors in the UK, was part of the first phase of the drive to “facilitate more sport activity”.

“We already work with sport clients on the fulfilment of content and through Luca and [vice-president global sports, news and live events services] Susanna Mandel- Mantello we will achieve deeper penetration of that market,” he said.

Kay added that RRsat Europe was also in talks to move to a new building in west London that would be three times the size of its current base.
