The Royal Television Society (RTS) has added a director category to its annual Craft & Design Awards.

Directors working in any area of programme making will be eligible for the award.

The RTS has also changed the criteria for entrants so that individuals who are based in the UK and have worked on a category within the UK can still be entered even if the production is categorised as an international one.

Chair of the RTS Craft & Design Awards and controller of CBBC Cheryl Taylor said: “The RTS Craft and Design Awards are an excellent way of recognising the extraordinary breadth of talent we have throughout the creative content industry.

“[The new director’s category] is an important and valued part of the production process and we felt it was time to include and recognise this skill.”

The RTS Craft & Design Awards recognise the variety of skills involved in programme making.

The categories include Design, Make Up Design, Costume Design, Production Design, Effects, Director, Photography, Lighting and Multicamera, Sound, Editing and Music.

All entries must have first transmitted between 1 September 2014 and 31 August 2015.

Entry forms can be downloaded here. The closing date for entries is Monday 1 September.

The awards ceremony will take place on Monday 30 November in London.
