Brief Encounters, the Bristol short film festival, returns for its ninth year between 12 and 16 November this year. The five-day festival includes a new award, the Momentum Pictures Best of British Award, with a£1,000 cash prize for the most innovative UK short. Also on offer is a four-day film school and ideas surgeries, where delegates can pitch ideas to industry executives, including representatives from the Film Council and the BBC. Brief Encounters is backed by Kodak, Imax and Bafta.
