Sky customers who pre-ordered the broadcaster's high-definition television (HDTV) service have been told they may not receive it in time for the start of the football World Cup. Sky has delayed the installation of HDTV in up to 17,000 homes, after the company's set-top box supplier, French electronics company Thomson, failed to delivery enough set-top boxes in time. Sky has received more than 40,000 orders for the HDTV service, officially launched on Monday (22 May), since it started taking pre-bookings last month.
