Sony Professional has forged an alliance with facilities trade body UK Screen Association.
The agreement includes sponsorship of UK Screen and technology forums for the manufacturer to gather feedback on its products.
Sony said the deal would help it to understand what the industry wants to see developed and implemented.
Senior vice president Sony Professional David McIntosh said: “By having first-hand knowledge of customer needs, industry trends and the perception of our products and solutions, we will be able to make changes people really want to see.
“The UK Screen Association provides a central voice for the industry by gathering and representing its views to the government, broadcasters, studios, manufacturers and production teams, which is vital to its longevity.”
The agreement will also include Sony’s involvement in an annual survey of UK Screen Association members and the support of ad-hoc training and educational events.
UK Screen chief executive Sarah Mackey (pictured) added: “Sony Professional’s products and solutions are widely used across the film and broadcast facilities sector.
“Working closely with experts in new broadcast technologies like 3D, as well as 4K content capture and 4K cinema projection technologies will be of huge value to UK Screen’s membership.”
