DAZN’s broadcast of Harlem Eubank v David Papot will see the debut of a range of new technologies geared towards fan engagement.

The boxing event, taking place at the Copper Box in London on 18 July, will have real-time performance intelligence with power, speed, combinations, and fatigue metrics overlaid live during the fight, as well as 360° volumetric replays that allow significant shots to be viewed from any angle.

This is thanks to technology provided by Gladius, which is also providing its digital gum shield technology, that can reveal the exact impact points and force of each blow. There is also AI-enhanced audio that will deliver the sound of the punches to fans in the arena.

DAZN viewers will also have AI-personalised feeds for fans at home. The broadcaster is showing the bout in partnership with MF Pro and Neilson Boxing.

Oliver Hickey, CEO of Gladius, said: “This is the beginning of a new era of combat sports. Gladius creates a single, trustworthy source of truth by intelligently combining video, volumetric capture, audio, and wearable sensors. On July 18th, fans will see every punch’s power, speed, and impact in real time, with Matrix-style volumetric replays and insights that turn raw action into compelling understanding. We believe we are building the definitive infrastructure for the future of sport.”

Kalle Sauerland, co-founder of MF Pro, added: “We’re proud to partner with Gladius for this groundbreaking event. Boxing has always been a sport of heart and skill, but Gladius elevates it with data that fans have never had access to before. But I plan to dispatch of this challenge in devastating and conclusive fashion, sending a warning shot to the champions in my weight class. Thanks to my promoters, MF Pro, who are working with Gladius on this event, who are bringing some really interesting ideas and concepts for the viewers on DAZN.”
