Racing Past Media has turned to Reuters Imagen to preserve and distribute its archive of motorsport content.

The archive includes rare footage from Formula 1’s first three decades, as well as historic rally championships and iconic touring car races, and Reuters Imagen has agreed a three-year deal to manage it.

The company will implement its cloud-native platform on the AWS-hosted archive, aiming to surface, manage and distribute content at scale. To this end, it will enrich the content with intelligent metadata, tagging and discovery.

Steve Rider, sports presenter and founder of Racing Past Media, said: “Racing Past Media exists to connect the history of motorsport with the people who want to tell those stories. Reuters Imagen understood immediately that this archive is about more than preservation. It’s about making footage discoverable and accessible to a global audience of documentary makers and fans who care about how motorsport has evolved.”

David Wilkinson, head of Reuters Imagen, said: “This partnership demonstrates what’s possible when you combine a specialised archive with a platform built for media discovery. RPM sits on one of the most important collections in motorsport history. With Reuters Imagen, RPM can make their content easy to find, deliver and license, becoming the natural first stop for anyone producing motorsport content.”
