The head of creative and production for Turner Kids has given Red One camera footage the thumbs up.

Earlier this year Brett Davey shot channel idents - using Red kit hired from Sonic Films - that featured teenagers and combined live action and 3D animation.

He said that the high-resolution images gave him real creative and practical advantages.

“Because we were able to scale in, it meant we could shoot from distance and then frame it a bit tighter in post,” he said.

“Teenage actors, even ones who have been to drama school, are still a little self-conscious. Using the Red camera we could stand back a little and let them have some space but still get some intimacy from the end product.”

Davey has recently recommended the technology to a couple of other creative directors.

The idents are currently airing on the Boomerang channel.
