Camilla Deakin and Ruth Fielding's Lupus Films has produced 3 x 24-minute animations based on the short stories of Oscar Wilde, to be transmitted on Channel 4 over Christmas. The Nightingale and the Roseis the first episode of Wilde Storiesand the animation director was Maurice Joyce, whose past work includes directing episodes of King of the Hill. This film explores themes of love and sacrifice, and the animation style is meant to echo the stained-glass windows of Harry Clark, who was a contemporary of Wilde's. The three films are linked with a storytelling device featuring a family and were all animated at Terraglyph Studios in Dublin.
