Yospace has introduced an HLS (HTTP live streaming) player for Flash.

HLS is the video delivery format developed by Apple for its mobile devices.

The content distribution fi rm said it would allow broadcasters and content owners to reduce the number of formats needed to encode and store content, as well as maintaining service for an installed base of Flash users during the transition to HTML5.

Yospace chief technical officer David Springall said the transition to HTML5 and the demise of Flash would be a longterm process.
