7 Wonder has stepped up its recruitment drive with the appointment of Oxford Scientific Films’ (OSF) Steve Condie as head of specialist factual.

In the newly created role, Condie will work alongside former Sky commissioner Chris Wilson, who was hired as head of popular factual last month.

During his time with OSF, Condie executive produced BBC2’s The Real White Queen, Channel 4’s Food Prices – The Shocking Truth and Oh You Pretty Things for BBC4.

His most recent work includes a 4 x 60-minute Dominic Sandbrook-fronted series for BBC2, and two drama documentaries based on Frankenstein and the letters of Lord Nelson.

Condie joined OSF in 2012 from the BBC’s history development team, where he was responsible for series including Sanbrook-fronted The 70s alongside, Kirsty Young’s The British Family and Simon Schama’s The Power of Art.

7 Wonder launched in March this year as a joint venture between Australia’s Seven Networks and ex-Maverick joint chief executive Alexandra Fraser, Liza Abbott and Simon Ellse. Its first commission Micky Flanagan’s Detour de France is due to launch on Sky 1 later this autumn.

Condie said his new role was a “great creative challenge”.

“Steve has fierce intellect but also genuine warmth and a rare lightness of touch,” added Abbott. “His great track record of combining intelligent ideas and content with pleasurable and lively programme making are fantastic qualities to bring to the development and execution of the wide portfolio of our factual programming across the slate.”
