Associated Press has selected AmberFin’s HD standards converter iCR as part of its move to an HD operation with file-based workflows.

AP receives content from sources ranging from mobile phone footage to broadcast-quality cameras, and AmberFin iCR will be used to help ‘normalise’ the content to ensure that all media files delivered across the AP network are fit for purpose for broadcasters to place within their editing and transmission workflows.

“We were attracted to AmberFin because of the quality of their file-based HD conversion and also by the company’s heritage in terms of its patent portfolio,” said AP director of Global Video Technology David Hoad.

Hoad added that AP is more than half-way through its migration to file-based workflows.

Channel partner ATG Broadcast supplied the kit. It also recently completed the construction of AP’s HD master control room in London.
