An update to the software for Blackmagic’s HyperDeck Studio.

What does it do? It adds compressed 10-bit recording and playback to the Avid DN x HD format.

Blackmagic says it will allow for dramatically increased recording times, with up to five times more storage and full file format compatibility with Avid Media Composer.

Users can switch between compressed and uncompressed formats. HyperDeck Studio has dual solid-state disks that can be changed while recording for unlimited record duration.

How much is it? The software update is free for all HyperDeck Studio customers. HyperDeck Studio costs $995 (£635).
