Staff at Clearcut Sound Studios have completed a takeover of the audio facility, with 80% of shares now employee owned.

The company’s former owners and co-founders, Peter and Carolyn Leggett, will be paid an undisclosed amount for the business over a seven-year period.

Sound engineer Christopher Wrigglesworth has taken on the role of managing director, and Mark Hellaby and James Clark, also sound engineers, have been appointed directors.

Wrigglesworth said: “The owners, who had run the business for 20 years, felt it was time to step down and thought employee ownership was the best route. Most of us have been here for around six years and they wanted to get us involved.”

Clearcut Sound Studios recently provided the audio mix for UKTV and BBC Radio 4 promos.

The studio has been advised by the Baxi Partnership.
