Brief Create visual effects for the second series of the romantic comedy.

How it was done Visual effects supervisor Tanvir Hanif and effects artist Mark Pickles used Maya 3D, Fusion and Nuke to create a varied range of effects for each episode, including a time-lapse sequence in which the seasons change as the camera pans across the Yorkshire landscape.

Multiple camera passes were filmed over several months and digital manipulation helped to create a seamless transition from summer to winter.

Another sequence required a shower of CGI petals to blow off a tree around the actors.

Maya 3D’s cloth simulation function was used to create hundreds of petals that were individually controlled to achieve the desired effect.

Overall, 100 VFX shots were created.
