Platform Post has invested in Forbidden’s cloud-based logging and editing system and Root6’s Content Agent as part of an overhaul of its tapeless workflow.

The London facility signed a deal to use Forbidden’s FORscene logging, rough-cut editing and review and approval system.

“We decided to invest because so many productions need remote viewing facilities,” said Platform Post creative director David Tasker.

“It will save clients money because they won’t have to sit in our suites watching clips. Also, our space is at a premium, so it means we can use the suites for more lucrative editing.”

Platform has installed Forbidden’s FORscene Linux-based Load box to compress source video and upload it to the FORscene cloud.

Tasker said Root6’s content management and distribution system, Content Agent, which is being installed this week, would be a useful addition to the facility’s tapeless workflow and would aid transcoding.

Platform said it has had only three tape-based long-form projects this year and, as a result of extra file-based productions, it is expanding its current 28TB nearline storage with an extra 14TB.

Forbidden said its broadcast post sales have risen rapidly, with revenue in the six months to the end of June up by 94%, largely due to post houses using the platform.
