Broadcast technology supplier Root6 is developing content monetisation tools for production companies and archive owners.

ContentSafari, which was showcased at BVE North last week, is being developed with wildlife production company Parthenon Productions and stock footage firm Omnimovi.

It uses image-recognition technology to identify specific objects in moving images.

The experimental software’s artificial intelligence can learn to recognise details such as a particular species of animal.

Root6 director Chopper Harris said the software was a response to increasing demand for stock video clips.

He said: “The idea is to understand the commercialisation of libraries.

“Production companies often have an incredible archive but while larger companies have the resources to market and sell their content, it can de difficult for smaller companies to do the same.”
