How it was done Due to the immediate style of filming, observational documentaries usually require sync recordings to be knitted together. To achieve this, dubbing mixers Neil Whippey and Daniel Taylor chose a rich selection of atmospheres to showcase each location. They focused on certain sounds during the more stylised sequences to give viewers an impression of the heightened level of detail experienced by some people with autism. Senior colourist Graeme Hayes completed the grade in Baselight. He balanced the various lights and cameras to enhance the beauty of the gardens and make Gardner’s bright pink hair stand out.
