Canon has launched a DSLR camera with a new sensor and improved options for editing video.

The EOS-1D X contains a newly developed 18.1 megapixel full-frame CMOS sensor for 1920 x 1080p HD recording.

Canon said its EOS Movie now offers longer recording options, creating a new file once its 4GB file limit has been reached while a new intra frame video codec “maintains the highest possible video quality, limiting compression of image data so users retain increased levels of information for post-production editing”.

Launching alongside the EOS-1D X is a compact WiFi transmitter.

WFT-E6 offers transfer of images and video to an FTP server, or the ability to display content on a compatible screen over a DLNA connection.
