ITFC has begun demonstrating its £500,000 media asset management (MAM) system to broadcasters and content owners.

Director of engineering and technology Dave Harris said the investment would help prepare the company for the “express train” of content owners that want to repurpose their assets and make them ready for on-demand platforms.

Known as The Core, the system has been built around ITFC’s existing TMD Mediaflex system, on to which has been added an Active Endpoints BPEL web services workfl ow engine to control previously separate hardware.

Long-term storage in the form of Quantum’s Scalar i6000 has also been added, and combined with Front Porch Digital’s Diva Solutions.

“There is a lot of talk about monetising content, and we are positioning ourselves to pick up that work. We sit between content owners and broadcasters and we need to offer a customised service,” Harris said.

The Active Endpoints functionality allows the Acton-based firm to set up web pages for clients to access parts of its MAM system.

ITFC senior operations director Lesley Marr said: “It means that clients can order things such as transcodes from their web interface, which will automatically create a job in Mediaflex and push a task through to our video area.”

ITFC was acquired by Deluxe in September last year. Marr said the company’s connection with the US-headquartered fi rm would form a significant part of ITFC’s future plans.

“Part of our strategy, and what we can offer to clients, is to act as a central repository and offer file collection from distributors into us as a collection point into the UK,” she said.
