East London's 3 Mills Studios has been sold to the London Development Agency (LDA). The deal, worth a reputed £22.54m, was signed last week with completion expected within a month. 3 Mills is home to Shed Productions' Bad Girls and Footballers' Wives. Tim Burton's new animation The Corpse Bride is also in production there. Plans to use 3 Mills as a media centre if Britain hosts the 2012 Olympics were revealed in Broadcast (27.2.04). Workspace plc bought the semi-derelict site in 1995. Tony Winterbottom, director of regeneration and development at the LDA, said: 'The LDA has acquired 3 Mills Studios as part of its ongoing commitment to develop the capital's creative strengths through its Creative London project. We announced in April at the launch of Creative London that we were going to set up 10 creative hubs providing flexible workspace and support facilities.'
