Manchester post facility Sumners has been commissioned by BBC Manchester to do all the post work on Britain's Best Sitcom, one of the largest BBC projects of next year.

As a result, Sumners has increased its Avid Unity networking capability by a further 20 suites, meaning the facility now has all 27 suites and two dubbing suites networked. The job will employ at least 20 staff over a period of six weeks in 10 suites. The total offline editing time will amount to more than 65 weeks

Before the series begins, an internet vote will narrow down the field to the 50 funniest sitcoms ever, with a further vote when the series launches. The project, which currently has no confirmed air date, will feature an initial extended launch show with subsequent weekly shows based on the top 10s.
