Six nominations for Red Production Company/C4 series

Channel 4 drama It’s A Sin leads the way with six nominations at the RTS Programme Awards, while BBC1, ITV and Sky Arts are set to compete for Channel of the Year at the 29 March ceremony.  

The Red Production Company drama has been nominated in five categories, including in the Limited Series category alongside ITV’s Stephen and BBC1’s Time. Series writer Russell T Davies is recognised in the Writer – Drama category, while Keeley Hawes is nominated for Actor (Female), Olly Alexander for Actor (Male) and Callum Scott Howells for both Actor (Male) and the Breakthrough Award.  

Meanwhile, C4 comedy We Are Lady Parts, from Working Title Television, is nominated in four categories, including Scripted Comedy. Its star Anjana Vasan is up for the Breakthrough Award and Comedy Performance (Female), while writer Nida Manzoor is up for Comedy Writer.  

Sky Arts, which is up for Channel of the Year, has two nominations in the Single Drama category: Death of England: Face to Face and Romeo & Juliet, both from the National Theatre in association with Sabel Productions and Cuba Pictures. They will go up against C4’s Help. 

Mae Martin, who won last year’s Breakthrough Award, is also nominated for Comedy Writer alongside co-writer Joe Hampson, while 2021 Presenter winner Joe Lycett is nominated in the same category for C4’s Joe Lycett Vs the Oil Giant. 

The Graham Norton Show, The Lateish Show with Mo Gilligan and The Last Leg are nominated in the Comedy Entertainment category. 

BBC2 comedy Alma’s Not Normal, which won Best Comedy Programme at the Broadcast Awards last month, has two nominations for Scripted Comedy and Comedy Performance (Female) for Sophie Willan. Those two nominations are part of eight in total for producer Expectation.  

The BBC has 30 nominations across all its channels, C4 has 28 nominations, while Sky has 10 and ITV has eight. 

Awards chair, Kenton Allen, said: “Despite the unprecedented challenges the last two years have presented every single one of us, the sheer talent and amazing professionalism from UK creatives both in front of and behind the camera, has truly shone through. This year’s nominees are incredible examples of the phenomenal skills and world-class talent working in UK television.”
