Bad Sisters, The Traitors, Love Island, Derry Girls and This Is Going To Hurt make the Broadcast Award top 10

Comedy dramas Bad Sisters and This Is Going To Hurt will battle with the likes of The Traitors and Love Island for the Timeline TV Moment of the Year, sponsored by Timeline Television at next month’s Broadcast Awards.

Broadcast has drawn up a shortlist of 10 moments after subscribers voted on their favourites from a longlist of 20, with the winner to be chosen by attendees at the annual event on 8 February.

The big revelation of who killed JP in the Apple TV+ series Bad Sisters will vie against junior doctor Shruti Acharya breaking the fourth wall before ending her life on This Is Going To Hurt in the list of standout moments in 2022.

In comedy, Erin’s monologue in the final episode of the Northern Ireland comedy Derry Girls makes the cut, as does Joe Lycett’s appearance on BBC1’s Sunday with Laura Kuenssberg, when he upstaged the new prime minister Liz Truss.

Queen Elizabeth II’s special tea with Paddington, filmed as part of the Platinum Jubilee celebrations, makes the shortlist, as does Jodie Whittaker unexpectedly regenerating as David Tennant in Doctor Who.

Elsewhere, England forward Chloe Kelly ditching a post-match interview to join her teammates in belting out “Sweet Caroline” after the Euro 2022 final and Ekin-Su’s secret kiss with Jay in Love Island, which lead to an explosive argument with Davide also make the shortlist.

Finally, con artist Shimon Hayut getting his comeuppance in the Netflix doc The Tinder Swindler and the moment in the BBC1 format The Traitors that Tom reveals to the group that fellow contestant Alex is his girlfriend complete the list.

The 2023 Broadcast Awards, take place at the JW Marriott Grosvenor House on London’s Park Lane. To book one of the few tables remaining, please contact Shane Murphy on 0208 102 0926 or shane.murphy@mb-insight.com
