Marie Antoinette and Mary Queen of Scots among royals highlighted for BBC Select series
Woodcut Media has landed a second series of its history series Queens that Changed the World with distributor Sphere Abacus.
The six-part series has been commissioned by North American streamer BBC Select, with Sphere Abacus concluding sales for series two with BBC Studios America as well as SBS in Australia, Sky Germany and Czech Television.

Series two will shine a light on historical female rulers including Mary Queen of Scots, Marie Antoinette, former Archduchess of Austria Maria Theresa, Queen consort and leading figure of the 1857 Indian Rebellion Rani of Jhansi, Agrippina the Younger and Queen Charlotte.
Each episode explores what drove these women, how they asserted their authority, and how sometimes being a woman proved to be their secret weapon.
The series uses archive footage and stylised recreations alongside expert analysis from historians and academics to chart their rise to power and key aspects of their reign.
Hayley Rhodes is the series producer with Kate Beal and Angie Cox exec producing. The series is produced by Woodcut Media and distributed worldwide by Sphere Abacus.
