Framestore CFC and Glassworks led the pack at the 2002 London Effects and Animation Festival (Leaf) awards held at London's Hippodrome last Wednesday (9 October), writes Barbara Marshall.

The two firms jointly won the commercial animation category - Glassworks for its Sprite 'Kebab' spot and Framestore CFC for its X-Box 'Mosquito' commercial. Hot on the heels of its Emmy and Kinsale wins, Framestore CFC scooped a further two awards with Dinotopiafor best TV series and another X-Box commercial, 'Champagne,' for best commercial live-action effects.

Glassworks picked up a second award for 'Gravity 3D' in the simulation and visualisation

category.

The other winners were - feature film: Industrial Light and Magic for Star Wars, Episode II: Attack of the Clones; pop promo: Shynola for Unkle's 'Eye for an Eye'; short film: Sony Pictures Imageworks for The Chubb-Chubbs; titles, idents and stings: Axis Animation for Toy Story Auditions; student work: Supinfocom for Tim Tomand FilmAkademie Baden Wurtemberg for Marvel(joint winners).
