London Fashion Week, which took place over the past week, entered a new era this year, broadcasting live on the
internet for the first time.
Organisers asked web-video producer and streaming specialist Streaming Tank to film and stream several of the catwalk shows taking place at Somerset House each day from 19-24 February for a site aimed at a general audience as much as industry watchers.
On top of this, visitors to the dedicated site were offered highlights of the week, the latest news and gossip, backstage chat, digital installations and fashion fi lms shot by designers, plus features on the British Fashion Council’s ongoing initiatives and events programme, and archive material from previous years.
The site also allows users to search by designer.
The initiative marks Streaming Tank’s fi rst foray into the fashion market, having carved out a niche for streaming live events, particularly music performances such as Sandi Thom’s 21 Nights in Tooting, which earned it a Broadcast Digital Award in 2007.
