The BBC, ITV and Channel 4 are to join Five in providing audio description on services broadcast by satellite. This will make audio description available to several million additional households, in addition to those households with suitable digital terrestrial receivers. Ofcom had proposed in a draft code - to be published next month - that all broadcasters provide this service for the visually impaired.
