Richard Cohen upped to newly created role at Zeppotron
Zeppotron has promoted the executive producer of Prime Video hit LOL: Last One Laughing UK to the newly created role of director of programmes, Broadcast has learned.
Richard Cohen has spent 15 years at the Banijay label with exec producer credits on shows including BBC2 comedies The Ranganation and Frankie Boyle’s New World Order, and Channel 4’s Eight Out of 10 Cats Does Countdown. He has also series produced BBC1 returner Would I Lie To You for three series.
In his elevated role he will work with the development team to develop programme ideas for the UK and international market and will continue to produce titles including Last One Laughing and Eight out of 10 Cats Does Countdown, which he has worked on since it started in 2012.
As director of programmes, Cohen will report to managing director Peter Holmes, who said: “Richard is a first-class producer with fantastic comic instincts who has been a key member of the Zeppotron team for many years now.
“I have no doubt he will flourish in this new role and look forward to working closely with him across our growing slate of shows.”
Cohen added: “I’m delighted to take on this new role as director of programmes. Zeppotron’s slate of shows speaks for itself and I’m excited to build on the success of Last One Laughing, develop new ideas, and champion new comedy talent.”
Last One Laughing, a co-production with Banijay stablemate Initial, has just landed a second series after amassing a whopping 39m global views since launch, according to Banijay UK.
In the UK, the format LOL: Last One Laughing achieved 6.1m viewers after 28 days, making it one of Prime Video’s most-watched UK originals.
Earlier this year, Broadcast revealed joint managing director Ruth Phillips was to step down from her leadership duties, remaining with the label in a freelance exec producer role.
