BBC Disinformation correspondent Marianna Spring opens up about her newly created role designed to tackle fake news.

On the Broadcast Behind the Screens podcast, Spring unpacks what her role entails, the human cost of disinformation and how the BBC can establish trust with younger audiences on platforms such as TikTok and Instagram.

“We all know someone who has fallen for disinformation,” she said. “They’re not crazy or stupid, they’re often very intelligent, curious people who are understandably distrustful and feel let down.”

Spring also discusses how the BBC can build new relationships with younger audiences via social media.

“We’ve all seen how much of a real-world impact online disinformation can have,” she said.
