ITN has installed a nearline storage cache from Object Matrix that it will use to get quicker access to its footage archive.

Making use of object-based storage technology, the cache has been integrated into ITN’s existing infrastructure and is working with its current Media Asset Management (MAM) system.

A MatrixStore, which Object Matrix describes as a ‘Digital Content Governance’ platform, will allow the broadcaster and production company to access, share and distribute content stored within the cache.

ITN head of engineering Ian Auger said, “It is becoming increasingly critical that we can continue to have easy and fast access to the most recently archived items, whilst also protecting, curating, sharing, distributing, and auditing that content.”

Object Matrix will take its object based nearline storage products, including Matrixstore, to NAB in Las Vegas (April 22-27).

A number of updates for its web-based browser application, MatrixStore Vision, will also be announced.
