Amazon has updated its Amazon Rekognition Video machine learning (ML) service to automate the detection of black frames, end credits (pictured), shot changes and colour bars in videos.

This makes it possible to work on tasks at scale in the cloud, such as packaging content for VoD; creating promo videos; automatic ad insertion and inserting ‘binge markers’.

Amazon Recognition Video can analyse large amounts of videos stored in the cloud, and, Amazon says, doesn’t require any ML experience experience.
