British LED lighting company Rotolight has revealed the Anova Pro 2 light, which it says is “one of the brightest LED lights ever launched in its class”. In technical terms, it delivers 10,700 lux (measured at three feet away from the light), which is 70% more lighting power than the previous Anova Pro model.

Rotolight adds that the light’s circular shape provides a “naturally soft, flattering light output”.

It’s also “one of the most energy efficient LED panels ever designed”, says Rotolight, with a 72W consumption, providing “unrivalled” battery performance when on location.

The Anova Pro 2 has electronically adjustable colour temperature in both flash and continuous modes, and a range of lighting effects, called the CineSFX suite.

The effects were designed in conjunction with VFX specialist Stefan Lange whose credits include Skyfall and Tomb Raider. It includes the newly added Chase FX to simulate the effect of motion on static sets.

“The Rotolight Anova Pro 2 is the perfect light for working in the live television environment. We are able to light people accurately, very quickly, saving us time, mistakes on air and a lot of money” says Wesley Dodd, CEO Celebro Media.

Celebro, a 4K television studio space on Great Portland Street, used by clients including the BBC, MTV, and Discovery, has ordered 200 of the Anova Pro 2 lights for studios it is opening in Washington, Moscow and Los Angeles. CEO Wesley Dodd said: “The Rotolight Anova Pro 2 is the perfect light for working in the live television environment. We are able to light people accurately, very quickly, saving us time, mistakes on air and a lot of money.”

The Rotolight Anova Pro 2 costs £1,249 ex VAT, and will begin shipping next month.
