Urban Myth Films will produce police thriller Hit Point from Misfits writer Howard Overman
UKTV has commissioned its debut drama for historically comedy-focused channel U&Dave.
StudioCanal label Urban Myth Films (Paris Has Fallen, The Lazarus Project) is behind police thriller Hit Point for the channel, which is to launch next year.
Broadcast first revealed that the broadcaster was seeking a drama for the entertainment channel in 2022, eyeing a six-part series that would fall outside of its usual output.
Hit Point been co-financed by StudioCanal parent Canal+, on which the series will air in France among other territories.
The series is billed as an adrenaline-charged blend of high-stakes crime thriller and sizzling romantic drama.
It follows thirty-something detectives Leo and Bella as their latest case pulls them into the dangerous West London underworld, where the lines between their personal and professional lives blur.
Writer and Urban Myth Films co-founder Howard Overman (Misfits) said: “It’s been a joy to create a show that blends high-octane thrills with heart, humour and a love story at its core. We have a talented crew of industry experts bringing Leo and Bella’s world to life and I can’t wait for audiences to dive into the twists, turns and surprises we have in store.”
The series was commissioned for UKTV by head of drama commissioning Helen Perry and ordered for U&Dave and U by Emma Tibbetts, director of programming for scripted, and director of commissioning Hilary Rosen.

Johnny Capps, Julian Murphy and Overman exec produce the series for Urban Myth Films, with The Gentlemen’s David Caffrey directing.
Canal+ has commissioned the series for its global footprint in over 50 countries across Europe, Africa and Asia. StudioCanal will handle worldwide distribution.
Commissioner Perry added Hit Point is “a cop show like no other” and said Overman has “crafted a tense crime thriller that’s driven by a characterful will they, won’t romance.”
Managing director of StudioCanal Television M-K Kennedy added: “We are delighted to continue our partnership with Urban Myth Films developing and delivering must see series.”
Hit Point will join commissions such as Will & Ralf Should Know Better, Guy Martin: Proper Jobs and Silence is Golden on U&Dave, moving the network into the drama world.
Casting will be announced in due course.
