Stanley Productions reopens as part of The Television Set

The Wardour Street business, which supplied tapes, drives and duplication and conversion services to the TV and film industries was placed in voluntary liquidation earlier this year.

The Television Set’s Terry Bettles said that most of Stanley’s previous offerings, including transfers, encodes and uploads would be available.

“We bought the stock and the website from the liquidator but we are not intending to take on the film processing aspect of the business,” said Bettles.

“We will concentrate on what people want now and the demand just doesn’t justify the resources or space needed to provide film processing services.

“We will focus on the transfer side of things, with the majority of stock associated with those processes, such as drives, available to buy.”

Five staff from Stanley Productions have joined the revived business but company founder Stanley Aarons is not part of the venture.

“[Stanley] built up an enviable business which we’re keen to carry on,” added Bettles.

Other residents at The Television Set’s Percy Street premises include Techbid broadcast auctions, Red-specialist Sonic Films, library the Footage Farm and a raft of independent editors.
