Telecoms giant Nokia is urging television producers and broadcasters to buck up their ideas and start providing unique content for mobile phones.

Speaking at its annual conference in Nice last week, spokespeople for the company said producers should be gearing up to provide bespoke content for mobile phones within three to five years. "TV needs to be much more mobile orientated," said Jouni Camarainen, standards and industry relations director for Nokia IP datacasting.

The statement coincided with the announcement that Nokia has introduced IP (Internet Protocol) Datacast technology over DVB-H (digital video broadcast - handheld), which makes broadcasts of news, sports, music and short films via mobile phones a reality.
