Symply has revealed a 160TB version of its SymplySPARK Thunderbolt 3 Shuttle RAID storage.

Launched last year as part of the SymplyFIRST product range (which the company says centres on “highest quality at affordable prices”), SymplySPARK was previously limited to 144TB.

According to Symply, SymplySPARK provides “fast, reliable, high-capacity storage at a fraction of the cost of SSDs.”

The SymplySPARK works at speeds up to 1,800MB/s at RAID 5, which is fast enough for 4K and 8K+ workloads and visual effects.

The cooling noise is less than 45 dB and the drive also has a ‘lights out mode’ to offer a distraction-free editing environment.

The drives, the fan and power supply units can also all be swapped out without needing to send the device back to base.

Keith Warburton, CEO of Symply, said: “As file sizes continue to increase and even more data is created daily, content creators and production companies risk getting left behind in their storage infrastructure. It’s important to keep evolving product lines to provide solutions to the capacity challenges faced on location and in the studio.”

SymplySPARK 160TB is available now.
